Arelle overview

Arelle was created in 2010 to improve the availability and usability of the XBRL specifications. Arelle is the world's only open-source XBRL platform. This is the free platform preferred by regulators, auditors and filers worldwide to build, validate and process structured data.

In addition to being a free, open-source platform, Arelle has the following characteristics:

Robust and resilient

Arelle is used by a global community of over 50 regulators, banks and technology companies who rely on it for data quality and comparison.

Certified

Arelle supports all XBRL International specifications and structured data regulations for
business reporting.

open

XBRL features can be triggered from the graphical user interface, the command line and the API. Some XBRL functions are available out of the box as web services.

Taxonomy agnostic

It supports any XBRL taxonomy specification for most of the available XBRL functions.

Extensible

Arelle has been designed to be extended by additional modules called ’plug-ins’. An Arelle plug-in can add functionality to Arelle and extend the GUI menus, the command line parameters and the available web services.

Rich

Arelle provides a rich set of out of the box features and plug-ins for EDGAR support, for system disclosures, etc.

Acsone service offering

For all these intrinsic qualities, Acsone has chosen Arelle as its development platform and has acquired a long experience in designing and implementing new Arelle plug-ins for many features. Acsone is an active contributor to the Arelle project. Acsone’s main area of expertise is the management of the taxonomy presentation information. However, we are familiar with all the XBRL specifications.

Since 2014, Acsone has been developing or improving Arelle plug-ins for the conversion to human-readable formats and validation in compliance with European and national regulations, for XBRL, OIM and Inline-XBRL formats.
