Creating customizations

The ESEF Extension Builder is perfectly suited to situations where a filer wants to extend a given taxonomy, in this case, the ESEF taxonomy. The principle is to use an Excel file which gathers all the necessary information to produce an extension in accordance with the filing rules and anchoring mechanisms as defined by ESMA in its technical manual. This information is presented intuitively, so to be edited in a comfortable way.

The ESEF Extension Builder can also be very powerful in enhancing the service proposal of auditors and providers of financial services, being at the very heart of the company-specific reporting process.

To help create the extension, it is possible to generate the Excel file from:

• any report package or taxonomy package, as long as these are attached to the ESEF taxonomy, or,
• the ESEF taxonomy.

Using the ESEF Extension Builder is intuitive, however it still requires some knowledge of the ESEF and IFRS taxonomies, as well as of the XBRL standard.
